BUSINESS | Zyxel Networks earns top marks for firewall, VPN solutions

Zyxel Networks has earned Champion status for both its firewall and VPN offerings in the latest Professional User Rating: Security Solutions 2025 report by German research firm Techconsult, part of the Heise Group.

The rankings are based on feedback from more than 4,500 IT security professionals who evaluated vendors across multiple criteria, including user-friendliness, reliability, functionality, and customer satisfaction. Zyxel was one of nine companies named Champion in the Network Firewall category, and one of just seven in the VPN category.

Zyxel firewalls received strong scores for ease of use, reliability, compliance, and functionality. The company was also ranked highest in overall customer satisfaction for firewalls, with users praising its technical support and partner network.

Similarly, Zyxel’s VPN products were recognized for performance, usability, and customization. Respondents cited innovation and high-quality support as standout features, with Zyxel topping satisfaction ratings in both solution and company metrics in the VPN category.

“Zyxel Networks’ aim is to make it simple for customers to get connected and to stay secure and protected at all times,” said Gary Chen, SEA regional head at Zyxel Networks. “The results of the latest Techconsult survey demonstrate, once again, how effective Zyxel Networks security solutions are in real-world environments.”

Raphael Napieralski, an analyst at Techconsult, said, “The attainment of Champion status demonstrates that Zyxel Networks is providing exceptional protection, easy usability, and innovation with its firewall and VPN products, delivering outstanding service, and achieving high levels of customer satisfaction.”

Techconsult defines firewalls as any hardware, software, or cloud-based solutions that protect network traffic. VPN solutions include tools that enable secure, virtual connections between devices and centralized networks. Only vendors with sufficient positive user feedback were included in the study, which evaluated 23 vendors in the firewall category and 21 in the VPN segment.
