Cignal has officially entered the fast-growing microdrama space with the launch of Cignal Play Microdrama, a new collection of short-form vertical series available exclusively on its streaming platform, Cignal Play, beginning June 28.
The microdramas—optimized for mobile viewing—are formatted vertically and designed to be watched in under five minutes per episode. Cignal Play subscribers can now stream an initial batch of original Filipino titles alongside international content from Dashflix through the Cignal Play app on Android and iOS devices.
Among the first locally produced titles to debut are I See You starring Dimples Romana, My Father’s Last Wish featuring Dylan Menor, and 3 Queens and a Baby headlined by Christian Bables. These series are part of Cignal Originals and reflect the company’s push to showcase Filipino creativity in emerging content formats.
“Microdramas offer a new, creative way to tell Filipino stories that resonate with audiences across our content platforms,” said Jane Jimenez-Basas, president and chief executive of Cignal. “This is a significant step for Cignal as we continue to embrace changes in the media landscape.”
The new offering underscores Cignal’s strategy to expand its digital footprint. In addition to its traditional direct-to-home satellite TV and fiber-powered IPTV services, Cignal has invested heavily in digital ventures such as Cignal Play, Pilipinas Live, and Cignal Super.
Users can stream the first five episodes of each microdrama for free. Full access is available via subscription for P20 per day. The catalog includes a mix of local originals and globally sourced series across various genres, targeting modern Filipino viewers who favor mobile-first entertainment.
Cignal Play Microdrama is available exclusively on mobile through the Cignal Play app, which can be downloaded or updated via the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
