BUSINESS TECH | Malaysia expands AI infrastructure manufacturing with new Vertiv facility
The approximately 236,000-square-foot site adds regional manufacturing, engineering, logistics and deployment capabilities intended to shorten delivery times and strengthen supply chain resilience for AI and digital infrastructure projects.

Growing demand for artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure in Asia has prompted another expansion in regional manufacturing, with Vertiv opening a new production facility in Johor, Malaysia, to supply power, cooling and integrated infrastructure systems for data centers.
The facility, located in Senai, Johor, will manufacture and test equipment for customers across Southeast Asia, North Asia, Australia and New Zealand as investments in AI computing and high-density data centers continue to accelerate.
The approximately 236,000-square-foot site adds regional manufacturing, engineering, logistics and deployment capabilities intended to shorten delivery times and strengthen supply chain resilience for AI and digital infrastructure projects.
“Asia continues to be one of the fastest-growing regions for AI and digital infrastructure investment, and expanding our manufacturing footprint in Malaysia aims to further enhance our ability to support customers with quality, speed, scale, and resilience,” Vertiv Chief Executive Officer Giordano Albertazzi said.
The facility will manufacture thermal management, power and prefabricated infrastructure systems used in AI and conventional data center deployments. It also includes end-to-end assembly, witness testing and dedicated validation facilities for liquid cooling technologies, which are increasingly used to cool high-density AI servers.
Vertiv said the plant is expected to employ up to 500 skilled workers by 2027. The site incorporates automated manufacturing processes and testing systems designed to validate liquid cooling and power infrastructure before deployment while operating under the company’s global quality management and ISO standards.
Paul Churchill, vice president and general manager for Vertiv Asia, said the Johor facility would improve the company’s ability to respond to growing regional demand for AI infrastructure projects.
“The Johor facility is designed to enhance how we support customers across Asia, through closer regional collaboration and more responsive execution for complex infrastructure deployments,” Churchill said.
During the launch, Invest Johor Chief Executive Officer Natazha Hariss said the investment would create high-value jobs and strengthen the state’s advanced manufacturing and digital infrastructure ecosystem.
