TELECOM | Smart, Blacknut launch cloud gaming service in Philippines
The library features games such as NBA 2K, For Honor, Asphalt, Overcooked!, and several LEGO titles for Smart and TNT users.
Smart Communications and cloud gaming platform Blacknut have partnered to launch a cloud gaming service in the Philippines, allowing Smart and TNT subscribers to access more than 1,000 console-quality games through their smartphones without the need for dedicated gaming hardware or large downloads.
Announced on July 27, the service enables users to stream games directly through a mobile browser, with gameplay processed on remote cloud servers. Subscribers can access titles from Blacknut’s catalog, which includes AAA releases, indie games, and family-oriented titles, without installing applications or storing large game files on their devices.
The library features games such as NBA 2K, For Honor, Asphalt, Overcooked!, and several LEGO titles. Smart and TNT users can register using their mobile numbers and subscribe for P145 per week, with the fee charged to their prepaid load after one-time password verification.

Lloyd R. Manaloto, Smart first vice president and co-officer-in-charge, said cloud gaming removes the need for expensive gaming hardware, lengthy downloads, and large storage requirements.
“Cloud gaming removes the biggest barriers to enjoy console-level gaming at your fingertips — expensive hardware, long downloads, and limited storage. With Blacknut, we’re making high-quality gaming instantly accessible to our millions of subscribers, powered by our award-winning network,” Manaloto said.
Blacknut CEO Olivier Avaro said the partnership expands access to premium cloud gaming for Filipino players.
“We’re proud to partner with Smart in making premium, console-level gaming accessible locally, giving players new ways to game and have fun anytime, anywhere,” Avaro said.
Cloud gaming depends on stable, low-latency internet connectivity because games are rendered on remote servers and streamed to users’ devices in real time. Smart said its network is designed to support latency-sensitive applications such as game streaming and cited previous Ookla Speedtest Intelligence data recognizing its mobile latency and video performance in the Philippines.
