Businesses and government organizations in the Zamboanga Peninsula were presented with connectivity, cybersecurity and digital solutions during an enterprise forum held by PLDT Enterprise on Sept. 29, 2026, in Zamboanga City.
The Enterprise Connectivity Forum Zamboanga, titled “Redefining Wireless Possibilities,” gathered 75 participants from industries including fishing, agriculture, hospitality, education and manufacturing, as well as representatives from government agencies and institutions.
The event was the first PLDT Enterprise Wireless Summit dedicated to businesses in the Zamboanga Peninsula. Discussions focused on connectivity options for organizations operating in remote locations, managing mobile workforces and securing increasingly connected operations.
Josh Montecillo, head of Enterprise and International Wireless Product Management at PLDT Enterprise, said businesses in the region have varying connectivity requirements, particularly when operations extend beyond conventional office locations.
“We want customers to have practical options they can match to their people, sites, and day-to-day needs,” Montecillo said.
The company presented a combination of fixed-line fiber, wireless services and satellite connectivity through PLDT Satellite Internet powered by Starlink. PLDT Enterprise is an authorized Starlink reseller in the Philippines, with the satellite service intended for locations where terrestrial connectivity is difficult or unavailable.
The forum also covered Mobile Private Network (MPN), which provides dedicated digital infrastructure for enterprises requiring greater control over network performance, connectivity and security. The technology is intended for critical operations that need reliable, low-latency connections.
Other solutions discussed included Internet of Things (IoT) applications for monitoring devices, assets and business operations through real-time information, as well as cybersecurity services to protect organizations as more transactions and processes move online.
The presentations included potential applications across the peninsula’s major industries.
In fishing, connectivity and monitoring tools could help companies manage fleets and distributed assets, while satellite services could support operations in remote locations. The region is a major center for sardine fishing and processing, with Zamboanga-based canneries supplying a substantial share of the country’s canned sardines.
For agriculture, IoT technology can support real-time monitoring and data-driven operations. Hospitality businesses can use reliable connectivity and separate employee and guest Wi-Fi networks, while educational institutions can apply digital infrastructure to connected campuses and learning environments.
Government offices can combine fiber, wireless and satellite connectivity, particularly in underserved areas. Manufacturing operations can use MPN to connect equipment and applications that require dedicated network infrastructure.
Jiggs Calixto, assistant vice president and Mindanao Customer Relationship Management head at PLDT Enterprise, said the company aims to address the varied requirements of local industries.
“Our focus is to understand what local customers need and help them use technology in practical ways that can support their operations and growth,” Calixto said.
PLDT Enterprise said the forum was intended to help existing and prospective customers identify connectivity and digital services suited to their operational requirements.
