Organizations deploying artificial intelligence agents and automated cloud workloads may soon gain expanded tools for managing machine identities, as SailPoint announced plans to acquire cybersecurity firm Entro.

The Austin, Texas-based identity security company said June 15 it intends to acquire Tel Aviv-based Entro, a provider of non-human identity (NHI) and credentials security technology. Financial terms of the proposed transaction were not disclosed.

The acquisition is intended to strengthen SailPoint’s recently launched Agentic Fabric platform, which is designed to govern and secure AI agents, machine identities, and other non-human entities operating across enterprise environments.

As enterprises increase their use of AI-driven automation, security teams face growing challenges in tracking and controlling the credentials, tokens, certificates, APIs, and machine accounts used by applications and autonomous agents. These non-human identities often operate outside traditional identity management processes but can still access sensitive corporate systems and data.

“The recent launch of our Agentic Fabric established a new paradigm for securing autonomous AI agents and non-human identities at scale, including native discovery, governance and protection,” said Mark McClain, CEO and founder of SailPoint. “By bringing Entro’s powerful and complementary technology into our SailPoint platform, we will be giving our customers an even bigger advantage: frictionless, complete visibility into every non-human identity and—crucially—the context and credentials they use to access critical corporate data.”

According to SailPoint, Entro’s technology specializes in discovering and monitoring machine identities and credentials across cloud environments, software development platforms, CI/CD pipelines, SaaS applications, and collaboration tools. The company said Entro supports discovery of more than 1,000 non-human identity and agent types and more than 1,200 credential types across more than 70 enterprise technology sources.

The planned integration is expected to improve visibility into how AI agents and machine identities access corporate resources and help organizations connect those identities to accountable human owners.

“We built Entro with a clear mission: to secure the modern cloud by discovering and protecting the sheer volume of credentials and non-human identities powering it,” said Itzik Alvas, co-founder and CEO of Entro. “As enterprises embrace more automation and agentic workloads, this massive identity layer is only becoming more critical to protect.”

SailPoint said Entro’s identity lineage and mapping capabilities would complement its governance platform by helping organizations understand relationships among users, machine identities, permissions, and credentials. The company also plans to incorporate Entro’s non-human identity detection and response technology to provide real-time monitoring for unusual behavior and excessive access privileges.

The announcement reflects a broader shift in enterprise cybersecurity as organizations seek ways to secure not only employees and contractors but also the growing number of software agents, cloud services, and AI systems operating within corporate networks.

The transaction remains subject to customary closing conditions and is expected to close during the third quarter of SailPoint’s fiscal year 2027.
