Subscribers of Smart Communications and TNT can now use Apple Pay to buy prepaid load and pay postpaid bills, following the rollout of the digital payment option beginning Aug. 4.

The service is available at Smart Stores nationwide and through the Smart Online Store, making Smart one of the first companies in the Philippines to accept Apple Pay for telecommunications transactions.

The new payment option allows Smart Prepaid and TNT subscribers to purchase load, while Smart Postpaid and Smart Infinity customers can settle their monthly bills using supported Apple devices, including the iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad, Mac, and Apple Vision Pro.

To use the service, customers must add a supported credit or debit card to Apple Wallet before making purchases in-store or online.

According to Apple, Apple Pay uses Face ID, Touch ID, or passcode authentication to authorize transactions. Actual card numbers are not stored on the device or Apple servers and are not shared with merchants during payment.

“Smart has always been at the forefront of bringing world-class and life-changing innovations to Filipinos, and we’re proud to be among the first partners to welcome Apple Pay in the Philippines,” said Lloyd R. Manaloto, FVP and co-OIC at Smart.

“As customer expectations continue to evolve, we’re committed to making every interaction with Smart simpler and more seamless. With Apple Pay, subscribers can now buy prepaid load and pay their postpaid bills with an easy, secure, and private payment experience,” he added.

Apple Pay is available on compatible Apple devices with supported payment cards. Customers may use the service at Smart Stores nationwide or through the Smart Online Store for eligible transactions.
