Yokogawa Test & Measurement Corp. on Aug. 19 released the WT1500 Precision Power Analyzer, a new addition to its WT series designed for high-voltage power measurement in electric vehicle (EV) and renewable energy applications.
The instrument supports direct measurement of up to 2,000 volts DC, allowing users to measure systems above 1,500 volts without dedicated high-voltage dividers, according to the company. Yokogawa said the design is intended to simplify wiring and equipment installation while maintaining measurement accuracy.
The WT1500 has a total power accuracy of ±0.038% for DC and 50/60 Hz measurements, and low-power-factor accuracy of ±0.07% of apparent power at 50/60 Hz.
Two input types are available. The high-voltage input supports measurements up to 2,000 volts DC and 300 kHz, targeting power conversion systems (PCS) and energy storage systems (ESS). A wide-bandwidth input supports up to 1,000 volts with a 2 MHz bandwidth for measuring high-frequency waveforms generated by EV motors.
The two input types share a common sensor input and can be combined in a single unit.
The analyzer supports up to four power measurements and four motor evaluations. It accepts encoder and resolver signals and supports IEEE 1588 time synchronization, CAN/CAN FD data output and UDP communication.
Yokogawa said the WT1500 uses a 2U form factor, measuring about 88 millimeters in height and fitting a 19-inch rack. It can be operated remotely through a PC, external monitor or tablet, while a front-panel control interface allows standalone operation.
For applications requiring more than four measurement channels, up to five WT1500 units can be synchronized to provide 20-channel power measurement. The multi-unit synchronization feature is scheduled for release within 2026.
The analyzer is aimed at EV and automotive applications, power systems, and renewable energy equipment, including PCS and ESS.
Yokogawa said the WT1500 can be used for four-channel measurements involving single-phase and three-phase inputs, inverter motor and e-Axle measurements, and simultaneous high-voltage measurements of ESS and PCS.
