TELECOM | Women drive AI upskilling at PLDT
PLDT said employee upskilling has become increasingly important as the telecommunications industry adopts AI, network intelligence, cybersecurity technologies, and digital customer engagement tools.
Women employees at PLDT averaged 88 hours of advanced learning last year as the telecommunications company expanded workforce training in artificial intelligence (AI), analytics, digital tools, customer experience, leadership, and technical skills.
The company said female employees across supervisor, officer, and rank-and-file positions participated in development programs aimed at supporting its digital transformation initiatives and preparing employees for changing technology and customer service requirements.
PLDT said the training efforts have supported the development of several internally developed AI-powered tools, including EVE (Emergency Vital Essentials), an emergency preparedness and family safety agent; ERICA (Enterprise Risk Intelligence Companion Agent), which assists enterprise risk management; Ellie (Enablement and Intelligence Engine), a digital assistant for enterprise teams; and KAI (Knowledge, Automation, Intelligence), a conversational assistant that provides network and product information for PLDT Enterprise personnel.
The company said employee upskilling has become increasingly important as the telecommunications industry adopts AI, network intelligence, cybersecurity technologies, and digital customer engagement tools.
“The strong learning engagement shown by women across the organization reflects the pace of change in the industry and reinforces our ongoing efforts to build a future-ready workforce,” said Gina P. Ordoñez, chief people officer at PLDT.
According to PLDT, continued participation in learning programs supports its efforts to enhance network services, expand digital platforms, and strengthen workforce readiness as it pursues long-term digital transformation goals.
