CYBERSECURITY | ITE, Check Point train 500 cybersecurity students annually

ITE, Check Point train 500 cybersecurity students annually

Singapore’s Institute of Technical Education (ITE) has partnered with Check Point Software Technologies to provide more than 500 students annually with enterprise cybersecurity training across its three colleges, as the country seeks to strengthen its pool of skilled cyber professionals.

Announced on Oct. 29, the partnership will integrate Check Point’s SecureAcademy curriculum into ITE’s cybersecurity-related programs, particularly the Higher Nitec in Cyber and Network Security course.

Through a SecureAcademy grant, students will gain access to Check Point’s online learning platform, instructional materials, virtual labs, hands-on exercises and resources for preparing for industry certifications.

The program covers network security, threat prevention, security operations and cyber defense. It also uses interactive challenges, simulations and scenario-based activities to help students develop practical skills in threat assessment and problem-solving.

ITE lecturers will receive specialized instructor training to keep classroom instruction aligned with changing cybersecurity threats and enterprise technologies.

The partnership is intended to prepare graduates for roles such as security operations center analysts, cybersecurity technicians, network security specialists and infrastructure support professionals.

The collaboration also includes an AI security component. At GovWare 2026, ITE and Check Point showcased a student-led project called “AI Security in Action” at the ITE booth.

Using Check Point Workforce AI Security, students demonstrated how organizations can identify AI usage, govern access and security policies, and protect sensitive data from risky AI interactions in real time.

The project gave students practical experience in different roles, including presenters, administrators and users, while exposing them to challenges involving the security of AI systems.

“As cyber threats grow increasingly sophisticated, bridging the cyber security skills gap is critical to securing Singapore’s digital economy,” said Rebecca Law, Check Point Software Technologies’ country manager for Singapore.

“Through our partnership with ITE, we are thrilled to bring Check Point SecureAcademy’s enterprise-grade tools, interactive simulations, and industry-recognised certifications directly to the classroom,” Law said.

Mr. Peh Wee Leng, director of ITE College East’s School of Electronics and Info-Comm Technology, said the partnership would help students develop skills relevant to the changing digital economy.

“Through our partnership with Check Point SecureAcademy, students will gain access to enterprise-grade cybersecurity training, hands-on learning experiences and valuable certification pathways,” Peh said.

Check Point said SecureAcademy learning resources are already available across ITE campuses, with curriculum integration progressively being implemented in cybersecurity-related programs starting this year.
